I don’t care…
February 28th, 2008…that to make foie gras you have to force feed a duck until it dies of liver failure. Surely it is the one exception in the world where the end justifies the means?
By all accounts, the duck doesn’t feel much, as it is just very happy to be given lots and lots to eat (in fact I think that all ducks are secretly American), and then one day - what a surprise! - it finds itself in duck heaven, rewarded for having made itself into something so delicious.
To go further, I think we should all follow the example of the duck: live selflessly, and let our lives contribute to the enduring pleasure of the other inhabitants of the Earth.
A duck has no purpose but to be made into foie gras, and other tasty dishes. By protesting against Foie Gras, we are actually removing the humble duck’s raison d’ĂȘtre, and reducing it to a life of miserable aimlessness.
The duck has a certain nobility about it, and this comes from Foie Gras, which it so magnaminously gives us. And we in return revere it, and elevate it to a higher standing.
Let no-one stand in the way of this pact!
